Wireless Communication Devices (WCDs) Policy

In accordance with House Bill 1105 (HB 1105), the District has established updated procedures regarding Wireless Communication Devices (WCDs) for the 2025–2026 school year. Per these guidelines, students in grades K–8 are prohibited from using WCDs during the school day. Limited exceptions apply only in designated areas with administrative approval or when authorized by a documented disability accommodation plan or medical necessity.

High school students (grades 9–12) may use WCDs during the school day but are not permitted to use them during instructional time unless directed to do so by a teacher solely for educational purposes. Additionally, it should be noted that WCDs, as defined in the policy, are separate from “instructional mobile devices” issued by the District or permitted through the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) program. These instructional devices remain permissible for educational use during class time.
